Scythe Kaze Server

Scythe Kaze Server
The “Scyth Kaze Server” fan controller in black is a nice product bought to control the fans within the new nice Antec case(review below) this controller has the facility to manage the speeds of 4 X 3-4 pin fans, and also includes temperature sensors for each fan along with a couple of spare ones(sensors). The device is easily mounted along with any optical drive assembly and includes four
Nobs-(including push button [when the knobs are pressed towards the case they operate a push button type function, selecting from Auto/Semi/Man fan control]) The box also contained the usual bag of screws and also extensions cables for fans. The only small gripe I have/had is a very small one the plugs for the fans sensors where around the edge of the circuit board, where they came close to the mettle attaching(mounting plates for securing in optical bay)and maid the plugging in of the plugs ever so slightly fiddly, but where actually very easy to fit the plugs this was so minor its hardly worth including.
It is possible on manual control of the desired fan to actually fully stop the fan completely, I have removed the jumper on the back which disconnected the audio function included within the fan controller so I don’t know if their was an audio beep or similar to denote the stationary fan. The unit also includes a small push button switch to switch the entire control off. On the back their was also a jumper to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit display notation on the front panel.
Again as with the case I would wholly recommend this purchase to anyone and well worth the money spent on it.

One of the things I forgot also contained within is a multi language layout sheet for the back and front layout items, you will need a magnifying glass to read some text on circuit board and layout sheet items. This so easily could have been included within the instruction sheet its self. "Number 5" Fan connectors 1-5 insted of just fan connectors ... ...

Antec 300 case

This to look at is a very nice bigish mini tower case and is paradise compared with the case it replaces, I found with the old case that, the end off the Video card for example was almost touching some of the optical drives or hard disks, their is no such problem with the case.
Well included within the box was the usual multi language manual al 42 pages of it with 5 being in English.
The case had the usual left and right side panel’s being able to be removed, along with the front panel facia, included in the case their was the usual screws and so on along with a bag of knurled nuts the kind that you can easily undo by hand no screw drivers where intended to be used here. The case once the front facia has been removed had room for 3 optical drives up top under the front USB/Audio connectors/on off switch’s With room for two 120MM fans below, these would fit within the two mettle fan mounts again secured with knurled nuts. Looking head on, on the right side off the Hard Disk bays was a cabling trunk with two plastic securing bands. This I feel could easily have been included on the left side to,  the side that does not include the motherboard.
The case included 3 X 3Speed 120MM fans, the speeds being  Slow/Medium/Fast the only failing here as I found out latter is that they only have Molex connectors, and the fan management system I bought separately of the internet uses 3-4 pin connectors.
I would highly recommend this case to anyone who wants a stylish case, a cut above the rest.

Technology Review and whats comming in future posts

Well the wait is over I have been thinking about this for weeks/months now, I finally went ahead and placed that order, and yes the postman delivered three largest box's  this morning. The delivery was kind of expected tomorrow, as we/I live on and Island it normally takes a day or two more for the post to arrive, however prompt delivery is not a bad thing, it did what it said on the tin.

Anyway the contents of the boxes will be analysed poked prodded and my thoughts and possibly others will be added over the coming weeks. Any way the contents of the boxes.

Box One
Box Two
Box Three
They replace
Box one contained
a very nice eye poping
wide screen  monitor
Box two contained
again a nice wide
screen monitor
Box three containeda nice'ish  gaming keyboard
They replace
two 17" flats creens
and an old tired keyboard

What will be driving all this and what will be tested, and on what.
Right the anatomy of the beast. Intel core two duo 3Ghz 64X monster, feeding an Ati Radeon HD 3870,
all running under the latest Enterprise version of windows 7 64X

I will be feeding the monster NFS Shift, Grid, Flight sim X, as well as some others that I wont mention yet. I am not really into first person shooters or combat games however I will be feeding the monster some off those as well, just to round out the test, which I hope will not lead to destruction of man or machine.

Testing for some is a choir

I have been busy off late with a few things, one playing a new game and Beta Testing a new peace off software.
Now this software item is a novel item which allows you to at a whim to broadcast the contents of a Windows PC's Window to the rest off the world. For example you could sit the other side off the world and watch me compose this article if I had chosen to broadcast this window, great trilling I here you say, well it can broadcast the contents off a game window to, you can  share a link with a friend and they can  watch an tell you where your going wrong.

Great though this is it concerns me that this service requires that you log in with Administrator privileges, now if something was to go wrong with this process and someone gets control of your PC via this method they can do what ever they want they are an administrator after all. Now here comes the rub while I have been using this software I have caught some nasties trying to run on my computer great a recipe for disaster. Well all in the name of a Beta Test, Ile clone my Hard-disk and open the firewall like they ask just don't expect me to use that Operating System afterwards. You would be a mug to fall for that one. Well they maybe genuine, maybe not Iam sure you wont blame me under the circumstances.

House keeping

Well its been a while, I thing my main problem was I limited my reponses to Alpha/Beta. As you may have noticed I have had a twiddle with few things I've change the title, Tweaked a few other settings. Ive relegated the News Feed to a link only instead of that ugly box thing that was their.

I will have to see if their is a way to edit the XeeSM gadget, on a small side note I here their is big things in the works for XeeSM Secret code name ALASKA, its all very hush hush at the moment, more when I am aloud to reveal more. I still know very little about it I will know more by then end off the weak. Want a beta invite then contact me I know someone, but its by Invite only at this stage.

The only other thing worthy of note is that Google Wave is opening its doors to Beta Testers on Wednesday. This application from what I've read is hoped to replace email. Well I don't know, Axels as XeeSM thinks so to I think that their is plenty of life in the old dog yet, all they have to do is deal spam that's all, if ONLY.

So you want to be a Tester, what do I have to do

It helps to be a Alpha/Beta Tester if you have some knowledge of programing. This will help you, or give you an idea off what you should be doing, to illustrate we will look at a small program, which is designed to add two numbers together and produce an answer on screen, or by some other method of output.

Right so we run the program and you enter in "2" and it asks for the second number, and you enter "2"
the program then outputs "4"  so you conclude that you have tested the program and pass it fit for purpose.
Have you done a good job of testing the program. No in fact you have not even scratched the surface.

What you should also be doing is saying to yourself, what happens if I type a letter instead of one off the number's how does the program respond? Does the program have code to check for valid input's. What happens if you enter in punctuation or a minus number does the program cope with each off these situations correctly.

These and other things the program should cope with, we have only looked at one simple action of a calculator program, with each level that the program reaches their are many and varied ways of checking them, this is what Testing is all about, can you crash the program if you can the programmer has not done his job.

Beta testing for Kaspersky is one of the most satisfyingly projects that you could undertake.

You are helping build the worlds most secure Internet security program that their is.
This is the Security software that the professionals all use. You help them develop the software, reporting bugs in their excellently run forums. Kasperskys Bugs Forum

Report bugs in the forum, progress and become an active member in the community and you never know you may reach the dizzy height's of being made into a
Gold Beta Tester
which brings with it its own special rewards.
